baking, cooking and reading........

did lots of baking and cooking today. as i type this the ham for tomorrow is in the oven. only one more hour and i can go to sleep. i baked cookies with my nieces today and had a lot of fun...they love to bake with their aunt karen. there was even some powdered sugar on noses...





the girls helped me make lasagna for dinner and lauren came over to eat with us. after we ate rob read Twas the Night Before Christmas. it is a tradition of ours and we wanted to do it while lauren was here. he has done this since lauren and scott were babies and has only missed 2 years ~ one when he was in honduras and one when he was at Desert Shield/Desert Storm. not a bad record for a soldier! i was sad scott had to miss it......



lauren told us that her friend janine is coming home from afghanistan about 4:30 tomorrow morning and that she wanted to go and meet her. she was not sure if her family would make it in and she didn't want her not to have anyone there. lauren is going to meet her plane at ft campbell in the morning and then will come here. she may miss opening gifts but it is important for her to see her friend. of course, i cried like a big baby but i guess i have to get used to the kids not being here for everything....they are adults now.

we are waiting for the girls to go to sleep so santa can come.....
