a trying week......

so here's the story.....Wednesday of last week Rob called me at work and told me he was going to the ER. i thought he was joking because he NEVER goes to the doctor. he said he was having severe abdominal pain. he drives himself there--which he never should have done. i leave work and drive the 45 minutes to Vanderbilt. when i get to the ER i can tell he is in excrutiating pain by the look on his face and his breathing. kind of freaked me out a little...who am i kidding, a lot! they had already given him Toradol and 16 mgs of morphine and it was not working. let me just say that he has a high pain threshold so this freaked me out even more. i had to leave the room for a minute to compose myself. i am a huge wimp so for me to even be in the ER was trying. i find out he has already been there for about 40 minutes and they are trying to get his pain under control and that it may be kidney stones which they say is like giving birth for a man. they come in and give him dilotid (not sure that is the correct spelling) not one dose but two. he finally gets some relief and they come in to do an ultrasound. the doc can't see anything but says his kidneys look good. so it's off for a CT. i go out to call his boss and admin assistant to let them know what is going on. he is back from CT when i get back and the diagnosis is indeed kidney stones. he sleeps off the narcotics and they release him to follow up with urology. of course he can't get in to urology until monday so he goes all weekend with pain. they did send him home with meds and the hope that he would pass the stones on his own. we go to his appt on monday and the doc wants to surgically remove the stones as they are causing a blockage and his kidney is swelling. surgery was the next morning at 7:30 am. we have to be there at 6:30....do they not do surgery in the afternoon. this make a long day for someone who is NOT a morning person. anyway, he has the surgery, everything goes well, they remove 2 stones and send us on our way. so he has been home recuperating for almost 10 days. i went back to worked yesterday. he went in for a meeting yesterday and stayed home again today. he is feeling much better and is getting a little stir crazy. if he feels well enough we may go to the Wilson County Fair tomorrow. it is the last day of it and he has NEVER been to a Fair. he grew up in Germany where they have fests but not like our Fairs. am hoping he feels well enough.....

in scrapping news, i have been continuing to organize my scrap studio (i like the word studio better than room). i have been scrapping in there and have completed more layouts since getting a space of my own than i have all year. have been completing the challenges for Project Catwalk at SIStv. i am also working on completing a mini book about Rob's time in the first Gulf War. started it for a PC challenge and want to add more and some personal journaling i didn't want to post. will post pics as i complete it.

no other news for today.....

peace out!
