canoeing is no bueno........

so here's the thing....scott and becky wanted to go canoeing on the harpeth river a couple Saturdays ago and he talked rob and i into going. i didn't want to...i had lots of housework to do. scott begged and said he would help me if i left him a list so i gave in and went. let me just say i was not happy about it. i am not really the outdoorsy type gal....and am not very athletic. i had never been canoeing before. we get there and there are a ton of people. we pay our $40 and get in a van for a trip to the river. i think they were taking us to where deliverance was filmed....said van drops us off and we get in the canoe. didn't even get 100 ft away from the drop off point and said canoe flips. at this point i am ready to go but of course the van left already. mind you no one else has this problem. scott and becky and the 40 other people are fine and paddling down the river. so we get going and keep scraping the bottom as the river is VERY low and they don't tell you this because they want your money. we paddle along and lo and behold we flip again. this is how it goes: paddle a little, get stuck on rocks, rob gets out to dislodge us, canoe flips and repeat. we end up flipping about 5 times and we have to paddle for about 3 hours. we finally get to the end...i am bruised and have a cut on my hand and we have to haul the canoe to the shore....among the 500 other canoes and kayaks. we have to move canoes just to get on to the shore. needless to say this was my first and last time canoeing. oh, and we get back to the canoe rental place and the guy asks me how my trip was...i look at him and tell him the he should not ask me that question...he should ask someone else. he just looks at me and shrugs. so here are some pics from our canoe adventure..... rob, scott and becky ready to go....


and the main reason i will not go again....i bruise easily.....(and yes, that is my leg and the other one looks just like it)
